Keith Chisholm was born in Portsmouth, England in 1947 and
immigrated to Canada in 1956. He graduated from the Ontario
College of Art in painting in 1972 winning medal awards and
the McLean Foundation Scholarship. After teaching fine art
in Newfoundland he returned to Alberta and pursued a fine
art, professional graphic design and communications career.
Today as a practicing painter living in Alberta, his
artistic focus and exploration continues to concentrate on
his personal interpretation and visual expression of the
temperate and arctic landscapes.
His
chosen use of acrylic polymer, has been developed with
highly personalized visual language and expression,
enhancing the “ethereal” elements of atmospheric perspective
and water imagery. Through paint layering and contemporary
glazing practices, most works require dozens of applications
of pigment and tinted polymer mediums.

Other painters and artists who have influenced his visual
and creative development include Andrew Wyeth, Bob Dylan,
Jack Bush, Jackson Pollack, Leonard Cohen, Francis Bacon,
Helen Frankenthaler, Lyndal Osborne, Tom Thomson, Mary
Whale, A.Y. Jackson, Caio Fonseca, David Craven and David
Alexander.
