In Shadow Creek, Keith continues to experiment with colour and with the material effects of his medium. He builds up layers and fills in naturally-forming cracks in the paint to create relief-like effects on the surface. Chisholm creates new painterly tensions with the enigmatic reveal of thin, darker underpaintings in the small square format. Through paint layering and traditional glazing practices, most of the work requires continual, repetitive applications of pigment and tinted polymer medium.
